2007: I've always thought that a sliced purple tomato is a work of art worthy of being hung in a museum.

2007: Our somewhat renowned "fat" carrots. Our soil is very rocky--which is not good for growing
carrots because they split when they hit rocks. We grow mostly short fat Chantenay varieties to
avoid that problem.
|

2007: A beautiful box elder maple tree near the corner of our property. The kids call it the climbing tree.
|

2007: Unlike most crops, garlic is planted in the fall and overwinters in the ground. In the spring, it
is one of the first things to start growing and get big in the garden.

April 2007:

|

April 2007: We finally got some animals--much more entertaining to kids than vegetables!
|

April 2007: But then again . . . shoveling some dirt around and sticking a few vegetables in the ground can't be fun too..

From L to R: A goose egg, a duck egg, a chicken egg (Rhode Island Red) and another chicken egg (White Leghorn). These are all from our crazy birds. The geese were just here for a visit--so we don't have them anymore. But they sure made huge eggs!
