LETTUCE

We grow many different kinds of lettuce--romaine, butterheads, looseleaf as well as many different colors. The only kind of lettuce we don't grow is iceberg lettuce (or crisphead). We mostly distribute lettuce in salad mix, but will occasionally give out head lettuce if we have some that mature into nice heads. The lettuce is best in the spring and gets a little bitter as the summer heats up. We are working on figuring out varieties that will allow us to continue to harvest a good salad mix later into the summer. We also plant a few fall sowings of lettuce and other greens as well. See the salad mix page for more info about the salad mix that we grow.
