What we grow depends largely on what our customers like to eat as well as our own preferences as farmers. Each year we ask our CSA members what they like to eat so we have an idea what we should plant the most of. In addition, we collect feedback from our CSA members throughout the season about what they liked and didn't like so we can fine tune our operation for the following year. Our plans are always changing, but to give you an idea of what you'll get in 2008 you can look at our past delivery schedules . Some of the things we plan to change are outlined in the brief description of our 2008 CSA Plan. You can also find more photos of our delicious produce on the photos page.

Here are some comments collected from CSA members on their feedback forms about what we grew in 2007 and 2006:

"I finally finished off the broccoli that we got weeks ago...I just added a bit to salad one day, and a little to stir-fry the next, and I was amazed at how long it lasted. Even weeks later it still tasted better than the store bought stuff does after one day."

"The cantaloupe was INSANELY delicious! and, i know it's been a couple weeks since we got them, but the purple carrots are great -- really, really sweet."

"The kale was the best i've ever had! Beautiful and tender and not the least bit bitter."

"We loved making salads with all the different types of leafy vegtables. We never had bok choi and chard before but we really liked them mixed with the lettuce and spinach."

"The cucumbers were great! Crispy and fresh."

"The tomatoes were great, the eggplant was very tasty, pretty much we loved it all!"

"Yellow bell-shaped tomatoes, excellent!!!"

"The shallots were also delicious, and the cherry tomatoes."

"We've loved the fresh basil each week and eat it all up."

"Delicious huge carrots!"

Black Krim tomatoes.
One of our specialties is growing a large variety (and quantity!) of tomatoes. In addition to the usual red tomatoes, we grow purple, pink, yellow, and orange varieties. Last year we grew almost twenty varieties of tomatoes and cherry tomatoes. Those in the photo are Black Krim.

Sweet red peppers.
In 2007 I finally figured out how to grow some good red peppers in NY. Hopefully I'll be able to repeat the success in 2008!

Dakota rose watermelon
It's tough to grow good watermelon in our short cool summers here, but I've found a couple varieties that do ok. Pictured here is Dakota Rose.
